तस्य प्राची दिक् प्राञ्चः प्राणाः दक्षिणा दिक् दक्षिणे प्राणाः प्रतीची दिक् प्रत्यञ्चः प्राणाः उदीची दिक् उदञ्चः प्राणाः ऊर्ध्वा दिक् ऊर्ध्वाः प्राणाः अवाची दिक् अवाञ्चः प्राणाः सर्वा दिशः सर्वे प्राणाः सः एषः नेति नेति आत्मा अगृह्यः न हि गृह्यते अशीर्यः न हि शीर्यते असङ्गः न हि सज्यते असितः न व्यथते न रिष्यति अभयं वै जनक प्राप्तः असि इति ह उवाच याज्ञवल्क्यः सः ह उवाच जनकः वैदेहः अभयं त्वा गच्छतात् याज्ञवल्क्य यः नः भगवन् अभयं वेदयसे नमस् ते अस्तु इमे विदेहाः अयम् अहम् अस्मि इति

His eastern quarter is the eastern breaths, his southern quarter the southern breaths, his western the western, his northern the northern, his upper the upper, his lower the lower; all the quarters are all the breaths. And this ātman is "not so, not so": ungraspable, for it is not grasped; indestructible, for it is not destroyed; unattached, for it does not cling; unbound, it does not waver and takes no harm. "You have attained fearlessness, Janaka," said Yājñavalkya. Janaka of Videha answered: "May fearlessness be with you too, reverend sir — you have made fearlessness known to us. Homage to you! Here are the Videhas, and here am I myself [at your feet]."
