A mirror vidyā: the ocular person is composed of the same three utterances — and his secret name is aham, "I". The pair of names completes the couple: the solar Man is "Day", the ocular one is "I": the light of the world and the light of self-awareness, one nature at two windows.
"I" as the upaniṣad of the ocular person is the deepest of the brief revelations: the first word of the Beginning (ahaṁ asmi, 1.4.1) lives in every eye; everyone who says "I" involuntarily pronounces the secret name of the One who looks out through him. And the same promise: evil is struck down — self-awareness that has recognised its source burns the darkness as the day does.
