译文

About this Janaka of Videha said to Buḍila Āśvatarāśvi: "You were called a knower of the gāyatrī — how then have you become an elephant and carry loads?" He answered: "I did not know her mouth, your majesty." Her mouth is fire: even if what seems like much is laid into a fire, it burns it all up; and so one who knows this: even if he does what seems like much evil, having devoured it all he becomes clean, pure, unaging, immortal.
