From his skin blood oozes, as sap from the bark; therefore it comes out of a wounded man as sap from a tree that is hacked.

The second correspondence is the flows: blood from the skin, as sap from the bark. A wounded man and a hacked tree run out alike — in both, life is liquid and breaks out through any breach.
The verse levels pain irresistibly: a tree "bleeds", a man's "sap flows"; whoever has seen resin on a cut has seen a wound. Hence the old reverence for trees: to fell one is an act that requires the justification of a sacrifice, for you are felling a kinsman.
