This is Prajāpati: the heart. This is Brahman, this is all. "Hṛdayam" is three syllables: "hṛ" is one syllable — his own people and others bring (abhiharanti) to him who knows this; "da" is one syllable — his own people and others give (dadati) to him who knows this; "yam" is one syllable — he who knows this goes (eti) to the heavenly world.

A small vidyā of the heart: hṛ-da-yam is taken apart into three syllables that are three promises: hṛ — "they bring" (√hṛ), da — "they give" (√dā), yam — "he goes" (√i) to heaven. The very name of the heart is a folded prophecy: to the hearted, gifts flow; to the hearted, people give; the hearted ascends.
And the title given is the highest: the heart is Prajāpati, Brahman, everything (we remember that all the quarters of the sky rest on the heart — 3.9). The etymology here is no game: the Upaniṣad teaches us to hear a word's destiny inside an everyday word; whoever says "heart" pronounces a three-syllable blessing, and whoever lives by the heart lives inside it.
