सुखासीनं ततस् तं तु विश्रान्तम् उपलक्ष्य च ।
अथापृच्छद् ऋषिस् तत्र कश् चित् प्रस्तावयन् कथाः ॥

Before asking for the narration, the sages let the guest rest and settle comfortably. This is a model of hospitality (atithi-seva): first to honor and put the visitor at ease, and only then to ask him for spiritual discourse. Hearing (shravana) narrations about the Lord begins with reverence for the one who carries them. Thus the right mood is set from the start: not curiosity for entertainment, but a reverent desire to hear auspicious words.
