Arjuna wins Draupadi (Krishna) by piercing a well-nigh unattainable mark at the svayamvara. Into the narrative now enters Draupadi — a great devotee of the Lord, who in the hour of distress will call upon Krishna and be saved by Him. Her very name is significant — Krishna: a devotee bearing the Lord's own name. Thus the devotee Arjuna and the devotee Draupadi are joined; their union is part of a design in which everything is directed toward Krishna.
