"When I heard that Arjuna, with divine arrows, checked the king of the gods, Indra himself, as he poured down rain, and likewise sated Agni in the Khandava forest -- then, O Sanjaya, I lost hope for victory."

With Krishna at his side, Arjuna checks even Indra, king of the gods, and satisfies Agni in the Khandava forest. A devotee blessed with Krishna's friendship surpasses even the demigods -- for the demigods themselves are subject to the Lord, and one sheltered by the Supreme is beyond their power. It is notable that in Khandava Krishna and Arjuna act together -- the devotee is never alone, the Lord is ever at his side (as He will be at the reins of his chariot). Dhritarashtra's despair deepens, for he hears of feats possible only by the Lord's grace.
