The chapter closes with a promise of fruit: whoever, with faith (shraddha), diligence, and devotion to truth and dharma, constantly turns to this chapter is purified of sin. The very qualities of a devotee are listed here: faith, steadfastness, fidelity to satya and dharma — this is the soil in which bhakti blossoms. And shraddha, faith, is stressed again: without it, hearing bears no fruit. Thus the Anukramani-parva, the introduction, does not merely list the epic's contents, but already gives the soul both the means and the fruit: to hear the word about the Lord with faith — and to be cleansed of everything that separates one from Him.
