While Krishna tends to the horses, Arjuna alone, standing on the chariot, repels the entire enemy host with his bow Gandiva. Under the Lord's protection a devotee is unconquerable: even alone, he holds an immense army at bay. The scene is telling — the Lord and the devotee act as one: one serves, the other fights, and together they are invincible. Arjuna's strength is the strength of his closeness to Krishna.
