译文
Alas! In that battle, as I have heard, only ten survived: three of ours and seven of the Pandavas; eighteen akshauhinis of kshatriyas were destroyed in that strife.

The price of war is monstrous: out of countless hosts only ten warriors survived, and eighteen akshauhinis of kshatriyas were annihilated. Such is the fruit of the envy and lawlessness sown by Dhritarashtra's sons. Yet in this, too, is the Lord's design: the burden of impious kings weighing down the earth has been lifted. But the cost is appalling — and in it is the sentence passed on adharma. The Lord descends and permits such purgings when the world overflows with untruth; for the soul the lesson is one alone — to seek refuge in Him, not in pride and enmity.
