译文
When I heard that the King of Dharma (Yudhishthira), dwelling in the forest, was followed by thousands of snatakas—great-souled brahmanas living on alms—then, O Sanjaya, I lost hope of victory.

Even in the want of the forest, stripped of his throne, Yudhishthira is surrounded by thousands of brahmanas: a devotee draws and sustains the saintly by his very presence. His kingliness lies not in outward power but in the dharma and care for brahmanas that he does not abandon even in exile. Where the righteous man is, there too is the company of the saintly; and this wealth is dearer than any kingdom, for it holds the Lord's blessing.
