अथ यत् ऊर्ध्वम् अपराह्णात् प्राक् अस्तम् अयात् सः उपद्रवः तत् अस्य आरण्याः अन्वायत्ताः तस्मात् ते पुरुषम् दृष्ट्वा कक्षम् श्वभ्रम् इति उपद्रवन्ति उपद्रवभाजिनः हि एतस्य साम्नः

译文
Now what is after the late afternoon and before sunset — that is the upadrava; with it the forest [beasts] are bound up; therefore, catching sight of a man, they run off [upadravanti] to the thickets and the burrows: for they have a share in the upadrava of this sāman.

The sixth beat: from the late afternoon to sunset is the upadrava, the "running-up"; tad asyāraṇyā anvāyattāḥ — "with it the forest [beasts] are bound up": tasmāt te puruṣaṁ dṛṣṭvā kakṣaṁ śvabhram ity upadravanti — "therefore, seeing a man, they run off (upa-dravanti!) into the thickets and burrows": the root √dru — "to run" — binds this member of the song to the evening flight of the wild.
The hour before sunset is the hour of taking cover: the wild hurries to its refuges: and this too is a beat of the song: the movement homeward before the dark. The great concord of the day has its part of flight as well — a lawful part, not a shameful one: a creature hastening to its burrow sings its own member of the sāman. The wisdom of the hour: before night one ought to be under cover — and the soul too has its "thickets and burrows": the Name, memory, prayer — which it must reach before sundown.
