The third entering: the same formula of faith — "this is the world — I go — beyond the span" — and the last fastening: apahata parigham — "strike ye away the bolt" (an imperative in the plural: the whole host knocks it off!).
Three times in the day "beyond the span" has been pronounced: a sacrificial day lived by knowledge is a day outside mortal time: three doors, three enterings, three svāhās — and the man who rises (uttiṣṭhati!) after each is no longer standing where he sat: the order has raised him a storey. There remains the closing seal of the khaṇḍa — and of the whole adhyāya.
