The song of the door: loka-dvāram apāvṛṇu — "door of the world, open!": paśyema tvā vayam — "may we see you": rājyāya — "for the sake of kingship": the sacrificer asks not for things but for a seeing: let the door of his world be opened, and let him see — the world itself? the kingship itself? A door one asks to have opened for the sake of seeing is the prayer of all prayers (the Īśa: "draw back the covering, that I may see!").
huṁ is the stobha that seals it (that roving syllable of the Unuttered from 1.13!): the request is fastened with a sound beyond words. Three times this song will sound in the day of the sacrifice — at the three doors of the three hours: the morning one (kingship), the midday one (the breadth of dominion), the evening one (sole sovereignty): each hour has its own door and its own measure of what is opened.
