"Here is the sacrificer — beyond the span of life. Svāhā! Strike away the bolt!" — having said this, he rises. To him the Rudras make over the midday pressing.

The second door is open: the Rudras — the most terrible of the hosts — samprayacchanti — "make over" their midday pressing: even the storm shares with one who has approached in due order: from the Rudras nothing is wrested — from them it is received: the fearful becomes the giver when it is addressed with knowledge and with song.
Again the formula "beyond the span": every opened door carries the sacrificer past his term: the day's three doors are three exits out of mortal time: a rite understood and sung through is a rehearsal of immortality within a single day of sacrifice.
