The completion of the morning door: atra yajamānaḥ parastād āyuṣaḥ — "here is the sacrificer, on the far side of his span": a daring formula: in the opened world the sacrificer is already beyond his term, where death does not reach; svāhā, the oblation-cry; apajahi parigham — "strike away the bolt!" — the door's last fastening is knocked off.
tasmai vasavaḥ prātaḥ-savanaṁ samprayacchanti — "to him the Vasus make over the morning pressing": here is the answer to the khaṇḍa's question: the gods of the hour, invoked in due order, share their own savana: the sacrificer's world is not taken from the gods but handed over by them: the heavens make over what is theirs to one who has knocked with a song and a bow. Doors are not broken in — they are unlocked by knowledge.
