Gopāla-campū

Jīva Gosvāmī's campū in prose and verse — the whole of Kṛṣṇa's life in Vraja told as one story. The people of Vraja themselves hear it: every morning and evening in Nanda's assembly two bards, Madhukaṇṭha and Snigdhakaṇṭha, sing of Kṛṣṇa's childhood, his pastimes and the rāsa. The Former Campū runs from Goloka and the birth to the death of Keśī; the Latter tells of the years in Mathurā and Dvārakā as grieving Vraja hears of them, and of Kṛṣṇa's return, his wedding with Rādhā and the entry into Goloka. In the author's words, it gives in poetry what the Kṛṣṇa-sandarbha establishes by reasoning.
